Whereas physical custody involves which household the minor children predominately live in. When parents are unable to agree on the issues of custody, the courts are required to decide both legal and physical custody, which can result in the court ordering joint legal custody and joint physical custody; joint legal custody and sole physical custody; sole legal custody and sole physical custody or deciding legal custody only and adding a designation of “primary household”.
